The New York Carolina Club was thrilled to host a free virtual event with George Smart ‘83, founder and director of the award-winning non-profit organization NCModernist for a special presentation entitled Mayberry Modernism: North Carolina’s Modernist Architectural Legacy.
George Smart HAIA is CEO and founder of NCModernist and host of the long-running podcast USModernist Radio, named by DWELL as the #2 architecture and design podcast. The nonprofit he founded has won 17 honors for leadership in historic preservation.
His one-hour talk showcased North Carolina’s surprisingly large collection of Modernist residences from the 1950’s up to the present and shows award-winning homes from past and present.
