Fellow Tar Heels,
While we are socially distancing, we can still make a difference and support the Richard H. Jenrette/New York Carolina Club Scholarship Fund for UNC students from the NY area. Celebrate the University’s 227th birthday with us the week of Oct. 12th as we further the mission of the University through service.
We’re excited to offer three ways you can give back – Tar Heel Service Day: 5k Virtual Fun Run, Tar Heel Service Day: Contactless Service Project and Tar Heel Service Day: Virtual Core Yoga Class. Show the world what an incredible impact Tar Heels can make as we #ServeCarolina.
5K Virtual Fun Run
The week of Oct.12th, we’re encouraging Tar Heels around the world to run or walk 5k (3.1 miles) to benefit your favorite UNC-related cause. You get to set the time, course and speed (although we’d love to help with the soundtrack). See how you can get the official bib, T-shirt and more. GAA members also receive a Tar Heel Service Day mini pennant when they sign up for the run.
Contactless Service Projects
Show the world the incredible impact Tar Heels make with contactless service projects, which can include making masks, delivering meals to those in need, cleaning up a shared outdoor space and more. We ask that your projects are completed at a safe social distance. Sign up a project, and we’ll send you the official Tar Heel Service Day tote. Plus, the first 200 Tar Heels to sign up get extra swag mailed their way. Here are some NY organizations running volunteer programs at this time to help you get started: In It Together NYC, New York Cares Organization.
Virtual Yoga Class
Or join us for a 45 minute virtual Core Power yoga class on Oct. 13th at 6:15 to celebrate the University’s 227th birthday and support the Richard H. Jenrette/New York Carolina Club Scholarship Fund for UNC students from the NY area. The class is free, but we will be accepting donations for the Scholarship. Any little bit goes a long way!
